Olive “Holly” Valiant, age 88, formerly of Forest City, died on May 2, 2018, at the Lakeside Care Center in Dassel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Forest City. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 8th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with a parish prayer service at 8:00 PM.

Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at a later date in the St. Gertrude’s Catholic Cemetery. Olive Mae Valiant was born on January 26, 1930 to Bernice LaDoux in White Earth, MN.

She attended grade school in White Earth and at age 15 moved to Illinois where she worked as a waitress. Holly met Lee Valiant and they were married in August of 1949, at the St. Gertrude Catholic Church. They moved to Maryland while Lee was still in the Navy.

They then moved to Forest City and she continued working as a waitress and raising 7 children. Holly obtained her GED, something she was very proud of. She also worked for Coast to Coast and Litchfield Garment Company.

Holly was a member of the St. Gertrude Catholic Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading and listening to classic country music. She is survived by her husband Lee Valiant of Dassel, children Ron (Paula) Valiant of LaPorte, MN, Gary (Kate) Valiant of Colorado Springs, CO, Larry (Debbie) Valiant of Forest City, Rusty (Jacque) Valiant of Forest City, Butch (Christine) Valiant of Bemidji, Becky (Dave) Clark of Grand Forks, ND, and Kent (Lisa) Valiant of Litchfield; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by brothers Milton LaDoux of Mahnomen, Conrad (Pauline) LaDoux of Cottage Grove, Steve (Tammi) LaDoux of Detroit Lakes, Richard LaDoux of Buffalo; sisters Janette St. Claire of South Saint Paul, Sharon Sandberg of Detroit Lakes, Denise Deichert of Fargo; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Bernice LaDoux and her brother Bernard Blue.
