Oliver E. Putkonen, Jr., 58, of Chisholm, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing. Ollie was born on September 23, 1959, in Chisholm to Oliver E. and Patricia (Bussey) Putkonen, Sr He graduated from Chisholm High School.

Ollie was united in marriage to Angela D. Rippentrop on December 15, 2007, in Chisholm. He had worked as a plumber/pipefitter and belonged to Local 589. Ollie was known for his kind heart and unmistakable voice.

He enjoyed crossword puzzles… Read More » every day, dice nights, a cold Budweiser, and the Minnesota Vikings. His favorite things were to be surrounded by close friends and family and friendly debates with his grandson Cooper. He is survived by his wife, Angie; children, Sheila Putkonen, Oliver Putkonen, Samantha McMonagle, Cody Kirsch; grandchildren, Cooper, Aleigha, Oliver, Jackson, Kaden; brother and sisters; his lifelong friend, Hemo; the guys – Russel, Dan, and Kerry; Mary Jo and Dennis; numerous nieces and nephews and many other good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Laurie Thronson. A Celebration of Life for Ollie will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, with a Sharing of Remembrance at 11:00 a.m., at Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chapel, Chisholm, with a gathering to follow at their home.
