Mr. Oliver Laymon Moore Jr., 75, a military service Vietnam War veteran, passed away at his home in Center Star on Friday, February 15, 2019. He proudly served his country in the Navy for 9 years and the Army National Guard for more the 15 years retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He belonged to several Masonic Bodies; Past Grand Royal Patron, Past Grand Patron and Past Master Killen Lodge.

He worked as a Machinist at Reynolds for more than 20 years. He had a heart of gold for animals and a love for flying and working on old antique cars. Of all the accomplishments in his life he was most proud of his love of a husband, father and granddaddy.

He loved his family greatly and would do anything for them. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 from 1-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chaplin Dwight Hedrick.

A eulogy will be given by Cynthia McKaig. Entombment will follow in Greenview Memorial Park Love Mausoleum with military honors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Marie Moore; parents-in-law, Frank and Lola Riddell; brothers, Bob Moore and Jerry Moore; brother-in-law, Bobby Riddell and Marshall Riddell; sister, Mary Ann Hollander; sister-in-law, Kay Bryant and nephews, Robert Bryant and Rob Riddell.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories of his beloved wife of 57 years Nancy Riddell Moore; son, Oliver L. Moore III (Lisa); daughter, Lola Moore (Marc Moss); grandsons, Eric Moore (Natalie Altman) and Troy Sims; granddaughter, Hanna Lee (Chandler Lee); granddaughter, Kayla Bevis (Justin); four great-grandchildren, Braydon, Emzley, Hadliegh and Blakley; brothers, David Moore and Ronnie Moore (Jan); sister-in-laws, Debbie Morgan (Roger) and Sherry Riddell and several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Morgan, Waylon Wright, Marvin Harris, Eric Moore, Troy Sim, Brad Jones, Ollie Moore, and Al Smith. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, The Chosen Ones, Veterans special to Ollie in his PTSD group.

His family wishes to thank the following doctors for all their hard work and dedication: Dr. Cole, Dr. Ashley, Dr. Wilson, Dr. Armed, Dr. Holden and Dr. Sherrold. We deeply appreciate the care that was given to him by his Keller Hospice nurse (Elaine) and caregiver (Therese). In lieu of flowers please donate funds to PTSD charities.
