Elder Oliver William Day, age 92 of Greenwood, Indiana went to be with our Lord on Thursday morning, April 19, 2018. He was born October 16, 1925 in Lafayette, Tennessee to Charley Trenton Day and Synthia Arlene McDonald Day. He was the last survivor of nine siblings; Pluma Day, Lassie Brooks, Ottis Day, Odis Day, Loretta Brooks, Imogene Shrum, Christine Willis, Henry Day, and Jewell Thomas.

Oliver enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 31, 1944 and discharged on October 30, 1947, serving in the Philippines and shipped to Japan for the occupation. He married L.E. Armour on June 8, 1946 in Catoosa County, Georgia. They were united for 72 years.

Oliver went to work at the Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 23, 1957 and retired on April 1, 1987. Oliver was saved by the grace of God at age 42, on March 31, 1967 at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, and baptized into this church in May of 1967. He was ordained into the ministry by Liberty Missionary Baptist Church on January 18, 1975, serving the Lord until his death.

A home going celebration for Oliver William Day will be conducted on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Anderson and Son Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN. with Elder Tony Day, and Elder Jerry Gammons officiating. Interment will follow at the Anderson and Son Memorial Park Cemetery in Lafayette, TN.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, April 23, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home in Greenwood, Indiana, and again on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Anderson and Son Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN. with the service at 1:00 p.m. Survivors include wife L.E. Armour Day, Greenwood, IN.

; daughters and sons-in-law Patsy (Chris) Ware, Greenwood, IN. , Linda (Tom) Opsahl, Clearwater, Florida; Twelve grandchildren, Sonya (Rob) Meguiar, Christa (Phil) Smiley, Greg (Dana) Opsahl, Jeff (Jenn) Opsahl, Matt Opsahl; twelve great grandchildren, Bobby Meguiar, Evan and Ethan Smiley, Sebastian, Anastasia, Alexis Opsahl; Grace, Emma, Aiden Opsahl; Savannah, M.J., and Hunter Opsahl. In addition to his parents and siblings he is preceded in death by son, Vyron Glenn Day.
