Mrs. Opal C. Burkhart Burke, age 82, of Brodhead, KY, passed away Wednesday December 26, 2018, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, in Somerset, KY. Opal was born in Hyden, KY, a daughter of the late Otis Burkhart and the late Alifair Taylor, on June 6, 1936. She was united in marriage to Glen Burke, her husband of 61 years, on December 23, 1957 and of that marriage came one daughter; Sharon.

She was a member of the Mount Vernon Church of God. She enjoyed talking on the phone, and watching UK Basketball. Those left to celebrate her life are her husband; Glen Burke of Brodhead, KY; her daughter: Sharon Burchett and Benny of Brodhead, KY; her grandchildren: Yancee Paul Burchett and Liz of Winchester, TN, and Shawnee Christian Burchett and Heather of Brodhead, KY; two brothers: Clark Burkhart and Loraine of Savannah, TN, and Orville Burkhart and Bernice of Mount Vernon, KY; as well as a host of several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Earl, William, George, and Benny Burkhart; and a sister: Joyce Ailene Burkhart. Visitation for Mrs. Opal “Nanny” Burke will be Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 6pm-9pm. Funeral services will be Monday, December 31, 2018 at 1pm, with Bro.

John Erwin and Bro. Bobby Owens officiating. Both will be held at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Cemetery. Condolences can be made to the family at www.
