Orlan Dean Blanchard, 87, of Laporte, MN died Saturday, October 13, 2018 at his home. Orlan was born February 6, 1931 in St. Paul, MN to Elizabeth (Emblom) and Clifford Blanchard. He attended school in Laporte, Mn; he then worked with his father doing masonry.

Orlan moved to St. Paul, MN and, in 1952, he married Gloria Cicchese. Orlan worked for American Can Co., Seeger Refrigerator, and Maxin Steel (steel fabrication), where he was a foreman for over 20 years. He retired in 1986 to Laporte, MN, where he built a home.

He and Gloria spent winters in Texas, and enjoyed traveling the country in their motorhome. Orlan was known for his laugh and welcoming personality. He was a great hunter, fisherman; and he loved to dance, golf, and bowl.

Survivors include son, Jeffrey Blanchard of Laporte; daughters, Terrie (Mike) Miller of Pine River, MN, Denise (Wayne) Frette of Ortonville, MN, Kimberly (Mark) Adams of McGregor, MN; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and brother, Kenneth (Gladys) Blanchard of Detroit Lakes, MN. Orlan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Gloria; five brothers; and two sisters. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 5:00-7:00 Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Laporte.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 11:00, also at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kabekona. Dennis Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements (www.
