OBITUARY Oscar Monsibais Jr. April 7, 1953 – November 19, 2018 Oscar Monsibais, Jr., of Dallas, Texas passed away on November 19, 2018 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He will always be remembered as a fun, funny and loving husband, brother, uncle and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born on April 7,1953 in Laredo, Texas to Oscar Monsibais, Sr. and Emma Martinez Monsibais.
He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas where he met his life partner, Glenn Sparks. They were legally married on their 40th Anniversary in 2014. Upon graduation, Oscar went to work for Lady Bird Johnson at the LBJ Presidential Library.
He also worked at First Texas Savings, Commerce Savings,Dr. Pepper/7-Up. He retired from Verizon after a 20 year career in 2017. He was always committed to giving back to the community.
Over the years he served on many charity boards, as well as, boards for the City of Dallas; most recently the Senior Citizens Commission. Oscar is survived by his husband, Glenn Sparks of Dallas, Texas, a sister, Diana Tavares of San Antonio, a brother, Richard Monsibais of San Antonio, a brother-in-law, David Sparks of Long Beach, California and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Emma Monsibais, and a sister, Margaret Cynthia Monsibais, all of San Antonio, Texas.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 o’clock p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 12 o’clock p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. A reception will follow the service.
Interment will be held at a later date at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Youth First Texas. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.
