Obituary for Parker L. Hutchison, Sr. Parker L. Hutchison, Sr., age 89, of Bernice, OK, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at Grand Lake Villa after a short illness. Parker was born on September 2, 1929 in Noel, MO to Fayette and Mary (Kelly) Hutchison, where he grew up and attended school. At a young age, Parker joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served during the Korea War.

After returning home, Parker met and married the love of his life, Francis Pendley, in June of 1948 in Afton, OK . The couple made their home in Joplin, where Parker began working at the Dr. Pepper/7Up Bottling Company and later retired. There, his energy and strong work ethic enabled him to work his way up from sales manager to Vice President.

In the 1960’s, Parker and his family began coming to Grand Lake, moving full time in the late 80’s. A jack of all trades, there wasn’t much Parker couldn’t do. He had his pilot’s license and enjoyed skiing and fishing, and could fix almost anything, but perhaps his proudest achievement was raising his 5 strong and independent children.

Parker was a strong, Christian man and attended ? Afton Baptist Church as long as his health would permit. Parker was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 69 years, Francis Hutchison of Bernice; children: Brenda Shank and husband, Mark, of Joplin, MO; Parker Hutchison, Jr. of Grove, OK; Lynda Oletti & husband, Mark of Bentonville, AR; David Hutchison and wife, Tammy, of Baxter Springs, KS; Gary Hutchison of Carl Junction, MO; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. A viewing for family and friends will be 9am to noon on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Nichols-Stephens Funeral & Cremation Services, 10201 U.S. Hwy 59 Grove, OK 74344. Graveside services will also be on Monday at 2pm, November 26 at Rolston Cemetery, Monkey Island.
