Patrice “Pat” Colleen Richards, 81, of South Shore, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the SOMC Hospice Center surrounded by her family. She was born August 1, 1937 in Oswego, a daughter of the late Raymond Cecil and Myrtle Ruth Miller Euton. Pat was a graduate of the former McDermott High School and she had attended Portsmouth Interstate Business College, the University of Cincinnati, the Ohio State University and Ohio University.

She was the first certified dental assistant in Scioto County and she worked for Berwin Miller, DDS for 17 years and taught Dental Assisting at the Scioto County Joint Vocational Center for 27 years. Pat stayed very close with her former students and enjoyed time spent with them. A member of Christ United Methodist Church, she was a longtime member of the LIFE Center.

Pat was a 12-year hospice volunteer who truly loved helping others and she was recently named the SOMC Hospice Volunteer of the Year. Her husband, Robert “Bob” Clarence Richards, whom she married June 1, 1958 in McDermott, preceded her in death June 23, 2006; and her son, Robert Adam Richards died at birth in 1974. Surviving are her daughters, Morna “DeAnn” Richards and Amy Leigh (David) Castle, all of Portsmouth; a grandson, Robert Adam Weaver of West Portsmouth; a step-grandson, Eric David Castle of Rarden; Misty and Tara, whom she thought of as special granddaughters; two brothers, Harold Lee (Jean) Euton of Jackson and William “Bill” Raymond (Becky) Euton of Sherrills Ford, NC; three sisters, Gladys Gail Brock of Lucasville, Robin “Tommi” (Ed) Walker of Greensboro, NC, and Mary Margaret (Alvin) King of Minford; a sister-in-law, Jean Richards; and 21 nieces and nephews, Troy, Beau, Joe, Rita, Andy, James, Randall, Lincoln, Chris, Bobby, Levi, Mindy, Tony, Lauren, Cassie, Denny, Jim, Jane, David, Tom and John.

Her sister, Velda Lou Jordan; a niece, Darla; and two nephews, Mike and Eric, also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Richard North officiating and interment in Euton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Hers was a life of caring and service to others. She touched more lives than she may have ever realized and she will be forever remembered in our hearts.

May her legacy live on through us all.
