Patricia Ann Snell December 26, 2018 Mrs. Patricia Ann Snell, lovingly nicknamed “Patty” and “Pat”, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in Hampton, Virginia. She was born in Orlando, Florida on January 31, 1957 to Charlie and Edna DeBoles of Orlando, Florida. She grew up in a large and close-knit family where she was the baby of 10 children.
She attended Orlando Public schools, graduating from the legendary Jones High School in 1975. On May 19, 1979, Pat married the love of her life, Nathan B. Snell, “Nate”, and went on to pursue a career as a civil servant for the federal government for over 15 years. Food was a passion for her; she loved good food and loved to cook for her family and friends.
She also loved music, especially Gospel Music. Whether she was enthusiastically singing along with her favorites or just listening, it bought her great joy. Her laugh was infectious, often causing others to join in and laugh with her.
Her outgoing personality enabled her to instantly make friends. She was straight forward, sometimes feisty and one of the sweetest persons anyone could ever meet Pat’s life changed dramatically when a friend invited her to a Friday night service at St. Johns Church of God in Christ. Pat believed the Word that was spoken by Bishop S. L. Green, Jr. and gave her life to Christ that very evening.
She joined St. Johns in 1983 and was a faithful and engaged member ever since. Pat’s loved the Lord with her whole being. She witnessed and testified about Christ’s goodness and power at every opportunity.
Many were blessed by her testimonies of the work of God in her life. She served the Church with her whole heart. She was a licensed Missionary and member of the Ministers, Deacons, and Trustees Wives.
She prayed with fervor, became a Prayer Warrior, and assisted with the prayer ministry. She participated in the Upper Room Ministry and was Co-Captain of the Faith For Living team, Heavenly Angels. Pat also loved being a Mother, Wife and Grandmother.
She doted on her husband, and she continually encouraged her children to pursue their dreams. However, she was most proud of how they treated others with respect and kindness. She also delighted in spoiling her grandbabies.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Edna DeBoles, her brothers, Rueben DeBoles and Garret DeBoles and sister, Tessie Ann Johnson. She leaves to rejoice her life her husband, Nathan B. Snell, 3 children, Lamont Snell, Natsha Snell, and Nathalie Snell and an adopted daughter, LaQuirsta White. She is survived by 4 sisters, Evelyn Reddick, Doris (William) Riddle, Gwendolyn Burton, and Vera Fairure; 2 brothers, Charles DeBoles and Donald (Nita) DeBoles.
She is also survived by a mother in love, Edna Snell, 3 sisters in love, Madeline Atkinson, Ellen (Remus) Trent, and Janice (Calvin) Coles; 2 brothers in love, Michael (Patricia) Snell and Anthony (Jackie) Snell; 4 grandchildren, Domonique Salley, Antonett Salley, Kelante Barr, and Nathan CJ Snell; 1 great-grand child, Chance D’moni Young; nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. Viewing will be held Thursday, January 3, 2018 from Noon until 6:00 pm at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.
A homegoing service will be held 11:00 am, Friday January 4, 2018 at St. John COGIC, 2414 Orcutt Avenue, Newport News, VA.
