Obituary for Patricia D. Sanford Patricia D. Sanford, age 73, of Little Buck Hill Road in Newland, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at her home. A native of Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Iva Lee Dellinger Burleson and the granddaughter of the late Oliver and Ethel Dellinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene ‘Gene’ Sanford; a sister, Brenda Burleson; a son-in-law, Martin Hughes; her aunts, Inez Self and Helen Young; and her uncles; Howard and Homer Dellinger.
Patricia was a member of Henson Creek Baptist Church. She loved to crochet and knit. She was a hair dresser for years and had also worked in a jewelry store.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters; Regina Hughes of Spruce Pine and Kim Hughes and husband, Teddy of Newland; her sister; Norma Goforth and husband, Bill of Newland; her brother; Danny Burleson and wife, Susan of Newland; her grandchildren; Josh Robinson and wife, Casey of Spruce Pine; Jena Rhodes and husband, Alex of Jonesborough, TN; Trevor Robinson and fiancée, McKayla; Kacey Hughes and wife, Brittany of Newland; Kody Hughes and wife, Taylor of Spruce Pine; great grandchildren; Brandon, Keegan, Karter, Malachi, Tydus, Kora, and Lynnlee; and special friend, Wallen Biddix of Spruce Pine. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Patricia Sanford on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Henson Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Junior Carver and Dean Honeycutt officiating.
A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 1:30 pm until the service hour at Henson Creek Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to; Gideons International, P.O. Box 92, Newland, NC 28657.
