OBITUARY Patricia Parr Bridges September 14, 1932 – December 31, 2018 Mrs. Patricia Pharr Bridges, passed away at age 86 on December 31, 2018 in Springdale, AR. She was born on September 14, 1932 in Gadsden, AL, to the late Eva Pharr and the late Ernest W. Pharr, Sr. Patricia graduated from Jacksonville State University and received her Master’s Degree from The University of Alabama. Patricia was an elementary school teacher until her retirement in 1990.

She taught at several schools in Gadsden City Schools, but most of her years in education were spent at Ivalee Elementary. Patricia was married to the late James S. Bridges for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest W. Pharr, Jr., Robert P. Pharr, Sr., and Kenneth Pharr.

Patricia is survived by her son, Samuel J. Bridges, Jasper, AL; daughter, Rebecca B.Johnson and her husband, Elbert Johnson,III, Centerton, AR; grandchildren, Katherine Johnson, Frisco, TX; Kyleigh Johnson, Atlanta, GA; Braxton Bridges, Jasper, AL; and Zach Nolen,formerly of Jasper, AL. She is also survived by Ruthel Pharr, sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Patricia was an active member and Sunday school teacher at Bellevue Baptist Church for many years prior to moving from Gadsden.

There will be a brief graveside service on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at Red Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gallant Road, Attalla, AL. Following that, there will be a Celebration of Life at 2:30 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel & Cremetory, 625 Gilbert Ferry Road SE, Attalla, AL. Rev.

Harvey Beck will officiate both services. Donations in Patricia’s name to Alzheimer’s Association and your local church are welcome and appreciated.
