Her body fought until it finally surrendered. She was in her home, as she had always wished.

She passed knowing she was well loved; and more than ready to dance in heaven! FUN, FIESTY, STRONG, LOVING, ALWAYS GIVING OF HER TIME, HER RES, HER OPINION (whether you wanted it or not) OUR POINT & DIRECTOR. OUT MATRIARCH.

She loved to dance, share a good meal with family and friends and hold patio get togethers with the party lights on. She was strong, courageous lady who met the challenges of her life as a daughter and sister, a mom, a wife, a partner in the Ben Franklin business in Oak Cliff with her first husband Tom Ward, a single woman in the workforce working for Laurel Land, Restland and Sedco Oil Company, a mom raising three children, a Grandma and Memaw, great grandmother Gigi, a caregiver, in-law, a friend. She had a full and wonderful life.

Then she added cancer to her achievements. Pat was the surviving poster child for over 25 years with ovarian cancer; outliving her support at Baylor Hospital of Dallas, and many of her closet friends. She lived year by year by setting a new goal to live for.

Birthday celebrations, high school and college graduations, holidays, and her final dance at her grandsons wedding to name a few. She lived in Oak Cliff and East Dallas most of her life; waiting many years to remarry. She surprised her family by eloping at the age of 79 to the “love of her life”, Leland.

The marriage allowed them to move to Fredericksburg, Texas where they remodeled a cottage on a hill outside of town and enjoyed “3 of the best years of her life. She was a lady well loved, she had a life well lived, she was ‘a good and faithful servant’ … now dancing up and down the aisles of heaven. Her greatest joy and legacy is her family.
