Patsy Jean Stickler June 15, 1926 – February 09, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Patsy Jean Stickler of Paragould passed away Saturday February 9, 2019 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born in Campbell, Missouri to the late Jean and Virginia Snider Stickler. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Paragould, UMW, and Charter member of Starrshine Circle.

Patsy graduated from Paragould High School in 1944, and Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri in 1947. After graduation, she worked for the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. for several months. She also lived in Germany for three years during the Berlin Airlift.

She then returned to Paragould and graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in nursing. That was the first R.N. class to graduate from ASU. She opened the first Coronary Care Unit at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in 1971 and retired as coordinator of the Intensive Care Unit after 20 years of service.

Patsy was a former nurse for Dr. Purcell and Dr. Finch, and was also active in the Nurses Association and served on the Board of Trustees for AMMC. Patsy loved her family and her family loved “Aunt Patsy” She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Eldon Stickler and niece: Penny Lynn Stickler. She is survived by nephew: Andy and wife Cheryl Stickler of Paragould; niece Laura Stickler of Jonesboro; great nieces: Stacie and husband Brent Reddick, Lindsey and husband Parker Copeland all of Paragould; Katie Stickler of Little Rock, AR; great-great nephew and nieces: Bailey, Ellie and Andrew Reddick, Lily, Evie and Willow Copeland all of Paragould; sister-in-law: Mary Ann Stickler of Paragould.

The family wishes to thank the employees of Greene Acres Nursing Home, the nursing staff at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, and her friend, Susan Youngblood for their loving care. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday February 13, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Rev. John Flemming officiating.

Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to NEA Humane Society, First United Methodist Church of Paragould, or St. Mary’s School.
