Paul David Dub Doppelheuer , February 28, 1933 — December 17, 2018

Paul David “Dub” Doppelheuer, 85, of North Ridgeville, formerly of Columbia Station, passed away peacefully on Monday December 17, 2018 at O’Neill Health Care in North Ridgeville. He was born February 28, 1933 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania to Emory and Sarah (nee Brown) Doppelheuer. Dub married Phyllis (nee Hodge) in 1954 and worked construction before moving to Ohio in 1957.

He then went to work for Heil Process (later becoming Xerxas Corporation) in Avon and Cleveland and retired as a plant superintendent in 1973. In 1970, Dub and Phyllis purchased a general store in Columbia Station and called it “Doppelheuer’s General Store”. They ran the store together for 25 years and had great success.

Owning the store brought Dub and Phyllis many happy memories and many dear friends. He also owned Dave’s Café in Wellington for several years. Dub enjoyed going “back home” to Pennsylvania with his son, Dave, to hunt with his son, brothers and nephews and to visit with friends and family.

He also enjoyed hunting in Ohio with his dear friend, Jimmy. He is survived by; his wife of 64 years, Phyllis; one daughter, Sheila Jenne (John) of Berea; one son, David Doppelheuer (Kim) of Grafton; four grandchildren, Keith Jenne (Carrie), Kurt Jenne (Ashley), Amanda Yandell (Adam) and Sarah Rook (Tyler); four great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Cadence, Quinn and Brooks; a brother, Roy Doppelheuer of Decatur, Georgia; a special niece and nephew, Sally and Bill Stoots; and by dear friends, Jimmy and Lois Martincic. The family will receive friends on Saturday December 22, 2018 from 3pm until the time of a memorial service at 7pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd.

Jan Yandell. All of Dub’s family and friends are invited to a Memorial Gathering to celebrate his life on Saturday January 12, 2019 from 3 to 7pm at the Columbia Station Eagles Club, 27190 Royalton Rd. , (State Route 82), Columbia Station.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
