Paul “Dutch”‘s Obituary Pawtucket – Paul “Dutch” E. Engelhardt, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Eveline T. (Swistak) Engelhardt. Born in Yonkers, New York, the son of the late Paul I. and Estelle (Kuras) Engelhardt, he resided in Pawtucket for sixty-two years.

Dutch served in the Army National Guard of New York from April 9, 1954 until August 10, 1955; the United States Navy from August 11, 1955 until July 14, 1959 and the Rhode Island Army National Guard until August 5, 1977. He was a self-employed contractor and also worked evenings as a “bouncer” at Bobby’s Rollaway. An avid bowler, he bowled at East Providence Lanes for thirty-seven years.

Holding several certifications, Dutch was a weapons instructor for the 115th Military Police; certified self-defense instructor with a fifth degree black belt in karate and a lifetime member of the NRA and was a certified rifle, pistol and shotgun marksmanship instructor. He was a co-founder with his late wife, Eveline, of the Darlington Pioneers Girls Baseball League which later became the Pawtucket Slaterettes. Dutch leaves three children, Elaine J. Olivier and her husband, John, of Pascoag, Jo-Ann E. Wunschel and her husband, Gary, of Pawtucket and Paul J. Engelhardt of Pawtucket; six grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Paul, Jr. and Daniel Engelhardt, Cody Olivier and Lindsey Wunschel; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Narissa, Paul, III and Jackson Engelhardt and four nieces.

VISITATION will begin on Wednesday, February 20th at 10:30 a.m. followed by Services with Military Honors at noon at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave. , Pawtucket. Interment, Notre Dame Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 would be appreciated.
