Paul Howard La Plante, 54, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side. He was born October 17th, 1964 to Helen (Konopka) and the late Howard La Plante. For 25 years, Paul was the well known “Beer and Ice Man” for Gerczak Liquor.

If you’ve ever attended an area church picnic or festival, you can thank Paulie your beer was cold. You’ve most likely relied on him for ice and cold water at area events like The Bellin Run, 4th of July downtown Fire on the Fox, and the Brown County Fair to name a few. Over the years, he also worked with his siblings in their businesses.

He was a driving instructor for Tom at AABC Driving School, a limo driver and maintenance man for Diane at Thario Building Services and a bartender for Mike at Party Line Tavern. He tried to be an arborist with his brother, Kenny, but soon realized tree trimming was not for him. He enjoyed jobs where he used his contagious friendly personality.

He was proud to be a member of the Loyal Order of Eagles. Everybody loved Paulie. Always quick with a joke, what a keen sense of wit and humor!

At family gatherings, playing Family Feud or Trivia, if Paulie was on your team, you were guaranteed the win! Had he ever been a contestant on Jeopardy, Cash Cab, or Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, he would have made it to the championship. He always knew the answers!

Paul will be sadly missed by his mother Helen; his brothers, Tom (Michelle), Kenny (Norma) and Mike (Laura) La Plante; his sisters, Diane (Roger) Thario and Sharon Wilson; his daughter, Courtney La Plante; and grandson, Lincoln; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Howard; and sister-in- law, Linda La Plante. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, from 1:00 pm until the funeral service at 4:00 pm.

Expressions of sympathy, memories and photos may be shared with Paulie’s family on his tribute page at www. lyndahl.com. Special thanks to Dr. Charlie Pahn and the staff at the Bellin Cancer Team, Unity Hospice especially Jason and Renee for their kindness and compassion in caring for Paul.

Also, thanks to Robert (Pidge) Paulsen for being there when he needed a friend instead of a sibling. If you measure a man by the size of his heart, the people he’s helped, and the number of people that weep at his loss …then Paulie was a very wealthy man. A man that loved everyone he met, and they in turn loved him.
