Obituary for Mrs. Paula B. Logan Paula B. Slade Logan was born on February 20, 1954 in Washington, DC to Clifton and Fay Slade. Paula accepted Christ and joined Emmanuel Baptist Church in Washington, DC at about age 12. She attended Sunday school and was a member of the children’s choir.
She was also a Girl Scout while a member at Emmanuel. Paula attended Washington, DC Public Schools and graduated from Anacostia High School. She attended Howard University where she studied theater arts.
She enjoyed singing and drama. Throughout her youth, she acted in several plays including the lead role as Maria in a version of West Side Story. Paula worked in office clerical positions and retail until her retirement.
Paula met Leroy in Washington, DC and after a short romance, they married on November 10, 1994. They were a devoted couple who were true friends and lovers. Paula and Leroy regularly sang gospel songs and studied the bible together.
Paula was a fun-loving, kind-hearted and giving person. She loved laughing and joking around. She was very witty and made others laugh.
If she knew your birthday, you were sure to get a phone call with her singing Stevie Wonder’s rendition of “Happy Birthday”. In 2010, Paula joined Christ Temple Holiness Church in Newport News, VA. She was a dedicated member and trustee, and she loved her church.
She was called the “flower girl” because she decorated the church with flowers. Paula also introduced reading inspirational messages from the book, Jesus Calling, as part of the Sunday services. Additionally, she loved angels and always prayed they watch over her loved ones.
Paula was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Clifton, Jr She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving and devoted husband, Leroy Logan, Jr.; a stepdaughter, Nakia; two granddaughters, Nijah and Samaya; her devoted mother, Fay Slade; her loving father and mother-in-law, Leroy and Naomi Logan; two sisters, Pamela Richardson and B. Denise (Ricardo) Mitchell; a brother-in-law, Kevin (Crystal) Logan; three sisters-in-law, Judith (Marvin) Smith, Kim (Keith) Cooper, and Angela Logan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
