Obituary of Paul Monnette Paul I. Monnette, 101 of Sun City Center, Florida passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, after a short illness. Born June 23, 1917, he was the second child of Rebecca (Burtsfield) and Irvin Monnette. Born and raised in Scott Township, Ohio, Paul attended school at Kirkpatrick, where he was a star on the boy’s basketball team.

He is a graduate of Marion Harding High School in 1935. In addition to helping with the family farm near Kirkpatrick, he was also employed in the building trades and at Marion Machine Tool Company. Paul enlisted in the Navy during World War II.

After the war, Paul married the late, Anita Fabian with whom he had two children, Paul Eugene Monnette and Barbara Davis who survive him. Paul had a long career with Ohio Associated Telephone, later General Telephone and Electronics, retiring from management in the mid 1970s. He and Anita relocated to Florida, however, they were often on the move in their camper, visiting family and seeing the sights across the nation.

Paul was a modest man of sound character, making deep and lasting friendships at every stop along his way in life. Throughout his life, Paul wove a coat of good deeds that protected him from the harshness of life. Now that he is in heaven, he no longer needs that coat.

For a moment, imagine that coat, and take a thread from that coat and weave it into your own. In that way, he’ll be with you, protecting and inspiring you throughout your life, until you meet him again. In addition to Gene (Gerda) and Barb, Paul is survived by four grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Damon (Pauline) Monnette of Marion, and sister-in-law Gladys Monnette of Cody, Wyoming, nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.

Paul is also survived by his beloved companion Jody Burt, with whom he shared many years of happiness and laughter. Services will be conducted at Sun City Center Funeral Home on March 22 at 11:00, with internment of cremations at Marion Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sun City Shrine Club, Box 5773, Sun City Center , FL 33573 in Paul’s memory.
