OBITUARY Peggy Clark Walker May 10, 1939 – November 21, 2018 Peggy Clark Walker, age 79, of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on May 10, 1939, to the late Maude Moore Clark and Frederick Lummus Clark of Sudbury, Massachusetts, Peggy is survived by her husband of 52 years, David Walker, daughter, Julie Walker of Sudbury, and grandson, Reid Walker Kiessling. Peggy grew up on Concord Road in Sudbury and was proud to be a member of the first graduating class of Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School in 1957, a fact she especially enjoyed sharing with her grandson, currently a freshman at LS.

Peggy went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Arcadia University in Pennsylvania and a Master’s Degree in Education from Montclair State University in New Jersey. Peggy was a star athlete, both at the high school and college levels, playing almost every sport offered to girls at the time, field hockey being her favorite. The highlight of her career was spent as a high school guidance counselor in Franklin, Massachusetts.

Peggy’s no-nonsense, direct approach to counseling endeared her to people of all ages and walks of life. After marrying Dave Walker in 1966 at the Martha Mary Chapel in Sudbury, the couple first settled in Allendale, New Jersey, and later relocated to Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Here, Peggy started both her career and her family.

Her only child, Julie, follows in her mother’s footsteps as an educator in Sudbury. The light of Peggy’s life was her grandson, Reid. The two had a close bond and especially enjoyed harvesting potatoes, playing cards, and talking about everything under the sun.

Peggy’s quick wit, yankee stoicism and inner strength enabled her to fight cancer with dignity. A tough exterior coupled with a soft heart allowed her to treat each new day as a gift. With the help of relatives, friends, neighbors, nurses and hospice, Peggy was able to remain in her home with her family by her side.

A private burial service for immediate family will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the National Cancer Institute (Building 31 Room 11A-16, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892).
