Peggy’s Obituary Peggy Delores DeGaetano, age 88, of Portage, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019. She was born on November 18, 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Marvin and Ethel Lawson. Peggy was a member of Hope Lutheran Church as well as the VFW Post# 9323 Auxilliary, the American Legion War Mothers, and the Hobart Elks.

She volunteered her time at the food pantry and was active at the Bonner Senior Center. She is survived by her son, Duane (Marsha) DeGaetano of Portage; daughters, Carol (William) Jones of Portage, Michele (Bruce) Frederick of Portage, Gaye (Phil) Trafny of Rio Vista, California; grandchildren, Mitch DeGaetano, Donovan (Jill) DeGaetano, Mikeal (Stephanie) Jones, Jeffrey (Jessica) Jones, Jeriah Frederick, Anthony (Allison) Frederick, Elias Trafny, Zachary Trafny, Kristie (Doug) Gourley, and William Robert Jones; great grandchildren, Adina, Madison, Genevieve and Louden DeGaetano, Sophia, Olivia, Savannah and Boaz Jones, Dusty, Tyler, Doug and Jordan Gourley; brother, Danny Lawson; sisters, Joanne Adams, Keitrah (Trent) McAllister, Sandra (Gary) Baldwin. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Mitchell DeGaetano; sister, Norma St. Claire; and brother, Marvin Lawson.

Memorial contributions in Peggy’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517. A funeral service for Peggy will take place Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. , Portage with Pastor Jerry Martin officiating.

She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. For more information, please call (219) 762-3013.
