OBITUARY Peggy Hurd December 6, 1957 – January 20, 2019 Margaret “Peggy” Hurd, 61 of Swanzey, passed away in the comfort of her home with family by her side on January 20, 2019 following a courageous fight with cancer. She was born on December 6, 1957 in Keene, NH, the daughter of Arno E. and Elois M. (Taylor) Hurd. She was a 1975 graduate of Monadnock Regional High School.

In 1976 she completed a program of study at the Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville, NY. Peggy had spent most of her career in the banking industry. For the last 20 years she had been employed by Savings Bank of Walpole where she was the Assistant Vice President of Deposit Operations.

Peggy was a devout member of Sturtevant Chapel in Keene and had served in various ministries. She loved children and had a passion in particular for the Children’s Ministry. From 1977 to 1983 she work at Bible Memory Association in St. Louis, MO.

Known as “Aunt Peg” to many, even outside her family, Peggy was a loving and caring woman. During times of weakness, her strength shined brightly. She was strong willed and was an extremely hard worker which gained her much respect due to her impeccable work ethic and knowledge.

Peggy “loved hard” and always made sure that her family was involved in each other’s lives. All of her actions were done out of love. During her mother’s declining health, she self-sacrificed and cared for her, making sure that her mother received the best care possible.

Peggy will be dearly missed by her siblings: Charles Hurd and his wife Grace of Fort Washington, PA, Glen Hurd and his wife Patti of Swanzey, NH, and Linda Heath of Troy, NH; nieces and nephews: Katy Putnam and her husband Justin, Lisa Magruder and her husband Rico, Alayna McCorkle and her husband Rick, Andrew Heath and his wife Renae, Beth Cox and her husband Andrew, Timothy Hurd and his wife Laura, Jonathan Hurd, Kristina Hurd, Michaela Heath, and Leah Heath; and great nieces and nephews: Abigail Putnam, Megan Putnam, Jayden Magruder, Aurelia Magruder, Sydney Magruder, Logan McCorkle, Adalynn McCorkle, Riley McCorkle, Brayden Heath, Audrey Cox, Lauren Cox, and Ezekiel Hurd. She was predeceased by her parents Elois and Arno Hurd. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 26 at 11:00 am at Sturtevant Chapel, 15 Washington Street, Keene, NH. Following the service there will be a gathering for family and friends at Glen and Patti Hurd’s home. A private burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Peggy’s name to the Children’s Ministry at the Sturtevant Chapel, 15 Washington Street, Keene, NH 03431 or to Big Brothers Big Sisters, 310 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH 03431.
