Obituary for Peggy Sue Sasscer Peggy Sue Sasscer, of Upper Marlboro, MD passed on May 27, 2018 at 76 years of age. If you met Peggy, you would never forget her. Charisma and grace were attributes that she showered on every person she met.

She greeted everyone with her warm and friendly smile and outgoing personality. Ambitious, full of life and love, Peggy especially loved children and could put anyone at ease with her loving and spiritual words of encouragement. She loved the Lord and was faithful to her church family.

Born in Kilmichael, MS to Stella Mae (Jacks) Lamkin and John Harvey Lamkin as one of eight children. Peggy grew up in Kilmichael, MS attending and graduating from Big Black High School, Class of 1959. After graduation, Peggy moved to Washington, DC to work for the FBI.

In May of 1964, Peggy worked at Miller Dudley Auto Parts Warehouse, where she met Elmer Sasscer. They were wed the following year. Peggy was ecstatic to become a mother to Elmer’s two children, Shirley and Ronald.

Eventually, they had a son together, Craig, the youngest. She was one of the most compassionate and loving wife, mother and grandmother ever to leave a legacy of the best kind; holding a child’s hand in hers. Even in stores, she would stop and admire children and always make loving comments about them.

As a homemaker, Peggy was an avid Teddy Bear Collector and an avid lover of Antiques. Each year her Christmas tree would be covered with Teddy Bear’s. She had a pretty incredible collection of antique baskets.

An active member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Peggy chaired the flower community and always helped wherever she was needed. She never met a stranger and will be missed by all. Beloved wife of the late Elmer H. Sasscer; devoted mother of Ronald Sasscer (Cathy) of Hawley, PA, Craig Sasscer of Upper Marlboro, MD and the late Shirley McGinniss; dear sister of Ouida Bennett of Tupelo, MS, Joe Lamkin of Leesburg, GA, Patsy Wagner of Stoystown, PA and the late Margaret Fultz, Nathan Lamkin, Mary Ward Lamkin and John Lamkin; loving grandmother of Shawn McGinniss, Daniel McGinniss, Rosemary Briggs (Gene), Sara Sasscer, Jessica Sasscer, William Sasscer and John Sasscer; devoted great-grandmother of Daniel McGinniss, Jr., Gene Briggs, Jr., Madison McGinniss, Braxton McGinniss, Landen Briggs and Jaxon Briggs.
