Obituary for Penithia Hamer Penithia **Star** Hamer passed on Monday December 3, 2018, 5:45 pm at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia due to surgery complications. Penithia was born the third child to the union of Ricardo Hamer Sr. (deceased) and Glenna Heard. On Saturday September, 24 1983 at Women’s Hospital in Las Vegas Nevada.
At the tender age of 18 months her mother and siblings relocated to Georgia. Penithia affectionately known as “Penny “was raised primarily in the cities of Lawrenceville and Duluth ,Georgia where she attended Benefield and Kanoheda Elementary, Sweetwater middle, and Graduated from Berkmar High School in June of 2002. Penithia was well known by fellow students and Teachers in middle school and high school because of her quick wit and fun loving personality.
In middle School she was awarded “The Student of the Year” award in her eighth-grade year of middle school. Upon graduating from High School Penny attended two years of college pursuing a degree as a Fashion Designer and Stylist at American Intercontinental University (AIU) in Atlanta Georgia. Penny was a go-getter and an overachiever.
She had great work ethics and believed in doing it well or not at all. This tenacious mature spirit was with her in all the occupations she worked. She began as a teenager working at Toys R Us and Kohl’s as the shoe department manager at age 19.
Then graduated into medical billing with Lincare, Northside Hospital and was currently employed with Children’s Healthcae of Atlanta (CHOA). Penithia had a big heart and infectious smile. Young children naturally gravitated to her and loved her.
She loved them as well. She enjoyed mentoring young adults especially young ladies. Penithia was preceded in death by her father Ricardo Hamer Sr. (July 11, 2003) and her grandfather Otis Heard Sr. ( July 2, 2018 ).
Penithia is survived by her mother Glenna Hamer, one sister Rickenna(Joseph)Walker, three Brothers, Ricardo(Jessica) Hamer, Sean Simmons, and Anthony Hamer; Her grandmother Imogene(Penny) Heard, three aunts; Senorra(Charles)Hines, Linda(James)Rouse, and Tammy Heard Hodges. Four uncles; Lorenzo (Dee Dee) Heard, Clark Hamer, Otis (Tirene) Heard Jr., Kevin Hodges. Two nieces and six nephews and a host of Family members and friends.
