Mass of Christian Burial for Las Animas, CO resident, Pete Palomino will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, CO. Rosary will be held prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 also at the church. Interment will follow in the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery in Las Animas.

Pete was born on July 21, 1952 in Avondale, Colorado. Pete loved his wife, children and grandchildren dearly. Pete enjoyed tinkering in his shed, carving wood, fishing, camping, and working in his yard.

He was a wise and kind man. He treated everyone equally and was always willing to lend an ear. He was always eager to help anyone who needed it.

He also served in the US Army. He retired from the Las Animas School District. Pete passed away at his home in Las Animas on May 7, 2019 at the age of 66.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Palomino of Las Animas, CO; his children, Johnny (Amy) of Olney Springs, CO, Elisha (Patrick) Garcia of Las Animas, CO, Kimberly (Zach Atkins) of Las Animas, CO; grandchildren, Brenden and Jessica Garcia, Devin, Kelsey, Dylan and Jaycee Palomino, Megan and Alex Torres, Angelique, Rome, Orion and Izabella Martinez and Baby Atkins; brothers, Jose, Gilbert, Anthony (Rhonda), Valentin (Stella) of Las Animas, CO; sisters, Martha (Ernie) Montez of Las Animas, CO, Lorraine (Eddie) Arellano of Springer, NM; lifelong friend and uncle, Alex Lucero; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many many friends whom were loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Secundino and Aurora Palomino; brothers, Lawrence and Secundino Jr.; sister, Mary Sauceda; mother-in law, Anastacia (Tita) Trujillo; and father-in-law, Esmael (Mike) Trujillo.
