Peter Lobbregt, age 94 of Biscoe died Saturday March 31, 2018 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. A memorial service will be held 12:00 PM, Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Yates-Thagard Baptist Church with the Pastors Steven Johnson and Sammy Frye officiating. A native of Patterson, NJ he was a son of the late Peter Cornelius and Mildred Fisher Lobbregt.

Peter served in the Merchant Marines during WWII from 1942-1946 in the Atlantic and Pacific war zones as Chief Purser and Pharmacist’s Mate. On April 21, 1945 he married Catherine Eleanor Cleaves Lobbregt, who preceded him in death. Peter loved his service to our country but realized after marrying that God and family came first so he came ashore to be home with his wife and to raise his family.

Peter was an accountant by profession and worked as a Port Purser and Accountant with Bull Line Shipping Co. in New York and later as an accountant at Proctor Silex in Southern Pines. He was an active member of Yates-Thagard Baptist Church and served as missionary treasurer for many years, keeping up with all the needs of the missionary families. His hobbies included painting pictures, writing poetry and singing praises to Jesus.

Anyone who knew Peter loved him and was always encouraged by his bright smile and kind words. He is survived by his children Peter Bruce Lobbregt and wife Becky of Santa Rosa, CA, Eleanor Lobbregt Morris and husband Luke of Biscoe; grandchildren Daniel Peter Lobbregt and wife Melissa of Santal Rosa, CA, Amanda Lobbregt Lubiszewski and husband David of Petaluma, CA; step-grandchildren Barbara Morris Fleenor and husband Bobby of VA, Debra Morris of Albemarle, David Morris and wife Audrey of Uwharrie, NC; 2 great-grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren and 22 step great-great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Missions at Yates-Thagard Baptist Church, 3820 Niagara-Carthage Rd, Carthage, NC 28327.
