May 1, 2018 Peter T. Hebert Jr. GREENFIELD- Peter T. Hebert Jr., 58, of Hope Street, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Born in Greenfield on July 21, 1959, he was a son of Peter T. Hebert and the late Shirley (Marion) Hebert and grew up in Orange, graduating from Ralph C. Mahar Regional. Peter served in the United States Army from 1979 until his honorable discharge in 1981.

For many years, Peter worked with his dad at P.T. Hebert Mason Contractors doing business in all New England states. He previously had worked at Raytheon in San Diego, California and various jobs in Massachusetts. He was a registered phlebotomist and CNA.

Peter had attended Greenfield Community College. He was an enthusiastic sky diver with a record number of jumps and on the team listed in the Guiness Book of Records for most divers in a formation. He also worked as a skydiving instructor for Jumptown Orange from 1997 until 2013.

Always active beyond his love of sky diving, he enjoyed water and snow skiing, biking and hiking and was quite a talented artist, doing sketches. Peter had also learned to play the ukulele. Also, Peter was a member and frequent user of the Greenfield YMCA.

Besides his father, Peter T. Hebert Sr. of Athol, he is survived by a son, Ryan Hebert of Athol; a daughter, Samantha Hebert of Cape Cod; two grandchildren, Alex and Lexi; sisters, Elaine “Dee” Bessette of Athol and Christine Carter of Gardner; a nephew, Nicholas Carter; a niece, Jessica Carter; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Peter’s mother, Shirley, died August 21, 2012. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, May 6th at 3:30 p.m. at the King Phillip Restaurant, 35 State Road (Route 2A) in Phillipston. Interment in South Cemetery, Orange, will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Greenfield YMCA, 451 Main Street, Greenfield, MA 01301.
