OBITUARY Phil D. Azure February 5, 1925 – November 2, 2018 Phil D. Azure passed away November 2, 2018. Phil was born at Beauchomp, Montana on February 5, 1925 to loving parents, Pete and Mary Azure. Phil joined the Air Force in 1943.

Phil was very proud of his time in the military. He served in WWII, having flown 35 missions as a B-17 tail gunner. Phil reactivated during the Korean War and was Crew Chief on a C-119 transport.

After his Air Force and Army hitches, Phil had a long career selling machinery for the plywood industry. He eventually started his own machine shop. Phil lost his wife, Vivian, in 1988 after 39 years of marriage.

He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his later companion, Dorothy Nichols. Survivors are daughter Phyllis Azure and son Paul Azure of Vancouver, WA; brothers Floyd (Carol) Azure and Maynard Azure of Zortman, MT, and David (Patsy) Azure of Vancouver, WA; sisters Amelia Rasmussen of Zortman, MT and Della Azure of Pendleton, OR; special Aunt Meda Larsen and cousins Joe and Debra Lavadure; many nieces and nephews who were all special to him; and close friends Will Wrast and Tricia Hines. Phil was preceded in death by his wife Vivian G. Azure, parents Pete and Mary Azure, brothers Robert and Sanford, sisters Cora Kelsey, Ethel Kinkaid and Bernice Azure.

Phil always said there were many happy and wonderful memories made by friends and neighbors from Topeka Lane, a special place he held in his heart. Visitation will be Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 4pm to 7pm at Vancouver Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Friday, November 9 at 8:30 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 400 S Andresen Rd in Vancouver.

Graveside service will be held Friday, November 9 at 2pm at Northwood Park Cemetery in Ridgefield. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Vincent de Paul.
