Philip C. Shetterly, 87, of Lake Odessa passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at S.K.L.D in Ionia. Philip was born in Hastings, MI to Dale and Winnifred (Bryans) Shetterly on January 13, 1931. He was a 1949 graduate of Lake Odessa High School and earned an Associate’s Degree in Agriculture from MSU.

Phil then proudly served his country in the Marines during the Korean War. On February 18, 1956 he married Betty Kole and together they spent 62 wonderful years. Phil was a life long sheep farmer and shearer.

He was very active in 4-H in Ionia County for over 50 years as a leader. Phil was also on the Ionia County Free Fair board of directors and a Sheep Superintendent, member of Sheep Breeders Association, Michigan Farm Bureau. He will be dearly missed by: wife Betty, children; David (Debra) Shetterly or Bonita Springs, Fl, Jane Shetterly, of Lake Odessa, Paul Shetterly of Lake Odessa, grandchildren; Edward Guigar, Victoria (Joseph) Kreiner, Hope Shetterly and Jacob Shetterly, siblings; Shirley (Robert) Chapman, Joy (Jack) Wickham, Linda Kenneson, brother in law Robert (Ruthann) Kole, along with many nieces and nephews.

Philip was preceded in death by: his parents’ brother-in-law’s; Earl Kole, Arnold Kenneson, nephew Gary Chapman. A memorial service will be held on January 12, 2019 at 11am at the Central United Methodist Church, 912 4th Ave, Lake Odessa MI 48849, with family visiting with friends and family starting at 10am. Memorials in Philip’s name can be given to either the Central United Methodist Church or the 4H Foundation Ionia County.
