Alexandria – On this day, Sunday, December 2, 2018, a sweet soul departed this earth. Phillip Lee McCartney, age 45, died after fighting hard against a disease he never thought he would have to contend with. On June 1, 2018, he was diagnosed with NASH Cirrhosis and his liver was already severely compromised.

After a stay in the hospitals of RMC in Anniston and UAB in Birmingham, and numerous tests, the result was he needed a new liver. He was placed on the liver transplant list and was hopeful that one would become available to him, but it was not to be. The family asks that friends and family remember him as they knew him to be: a good friend, and honest soul, who always told the truth as he believed it to be.

Phillip leaves behind to mourn his loss, his mother, Jane McCartney; his brother, Gavin McCartney; and his greatest joys: his nephew Reed McCartney and his niece, Savannah McCartney. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Terrell A. McCartney. Phillip also leaves behind many special aunts, uncles, and cousins, to treasure his memory; and two special friends in his life, Dana Crow and Cindy Noah McGlaughn.

Per Phillip’s wishes, no services will be held.
