OBITUARY Phyllis Bernhard June 28, 1927 – January 2, 2019 Phyllis C. Bernhard was born in Napoleonville, Louisiana on July 28, 1927. She entered Heaven’s gates on January 2, 2019. A loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Phyllis found great joy in cooking and caring for her family.

She loved a good card game, was an accomplished seamstress, and never passed up an opportunity to play golf with the girls, or have lunch with friends. In 2013, when her health required her to move to Assisted Living, she continued to find joy in her new home and her new friends. She lived life to the fullest and was happiest when surrounded by her family.

She will be greatly missed, but will forever live in our hearts. Phyllis is survived by her three sons and spouses, William F. Bernhard, III and Angela, Barry L. Bernhard and Sheryle, Jude Bernhard. and her daughter, Connie Bernhard Shelden.

She is also survived by her sisters, Peggy C. Hannaman and Camille C. Gomez, eight grandchildren, Jason and Erin Shelden, Travis, Nic, Brandon, Mitchell, Nick and Caz Bernhard. Nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. “Bill” Bernhard, Jr., parents, Edmund and Camille Gilbert Castagnos, and sister, Gaynel C. Marchand.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at the Haven and the Blake Memory Care Unit who loved and cared for her these past 5 years. Also a special thank you to Dr. Louis Minsky and staff for the excellent care you administered. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 12 noon to 2pm at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana with services immediately following visitation.
