Phyllis E. Moffat , 100, of Elmira, NY passed away at home on Saturday, May 25, 2019. Phyllis was born in Middletown, NY, daughter of the late George C. and Kathleen P. Haines. She was predeceased by her husband, William G. Moffat; and her loving brother, Blake.

Phyliis is survived by her daughters, Karen McMurray and Jo (Dennis) Carlson; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was a retired GST BOCES cosmetology teacher after many years. She was a member of the NYSRTA, EBPW, RSVP, St. Joseph’s hospital auxiliary, Red Hat Society, and a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

She was an active horsewoman in her younger years and a member of the American Pinto Society. Phyllis was a breeder of fine Scottish Terriers and a former member of the Scottish Terrier Club of America. She was an Associate member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Rochester.

She was an inspiration to all who she came in contact with. Phyllis was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 304 N. Main Street.
