Phyllis B. Fountain, a resident of South Bend, IN, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Memorial Hospital. Life for Phyllis began on September 6, 1965 in Gary, IN to the union of Jesse R. (Herron) and James V. Fountain, Sr. Phyllis was educated in the Gary School District. After graduating, she began her career as a licensed cosmetologist and relocated to Georgia, which she affectionately called home.

She resided in Georgia until 1996, when she returned to South Bend to care for her sister, Angela. She was employed in 1996 by Nyloncraft until her death. She also was employed by Saint Joseph County Public Library for 15 plus years.

Phyllis accepted Christ as a young adult. Phyllis and her daughter became members at Christian Center in South Bend where they worshiped faithfully. Phyllis loved the Lord and she loved her grandchildren.

They were everything to her. Phyllis loved attending concerts, shopping and had a passion for cooking and baking. To her family and friends, she was known for her pecan pie.

Phyllis spent a lot of time with her daughter and grandchildren and she took pride in helping family member and others. She was a humble and a loving person, very soft spoken, and always walked away from arguing. Her loving family members who survive are; her daughter Jesseka McKenzie; two grandchildren: Samaria Morris and Donald Morris, Jr., all of South Bend, IN; a nephew, who she raised as her son, Elliott Sanders of Auburn, GA; one sister, Gloria Johnson; one brother, Elder Rodney Fountain, both of South Bend, IN; a niece, Teffanie Johnson and a nephew, Kenneth Lipkins; as well as many great nieces and nephews; special and dear friend Debra Williams of GA; a special cousin, Deborah Ann Barr of South Bend, IN; along with other relatives and friends.

Proceeding her in death were both parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, one sister, Angela Fountain, and one brother, James V. Fountain, Jr. Services for Ms. Fountain will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Christian Center Church, 530 E Ireland Rd, South Bend, IN 46614. Friends may call on the family for visitation for one hour prior to service at the church. Pastor Mark Lantz will officiate.
