Prairie du Chien, WI Phyllis M. Steiner, age 88 of Prairie du Chien, WI passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Crossing Rivers Health Care with her family by her side. She was born June 17, 1930 in New Hampton, IA, the daughter of Leo and Eva (Beckman) Noehl. She married her sweetheart and loving husband of 64 years, “Lefty” Laverne Steiner on May 30, 1953 at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien.

Together, they raised five children: Brad, Dirk, Brian, Gerri, and Jennifer. Phyllis was also involved in the daily operation of the family construction business and The Alaskan Canadian Fur Trading Company. She was an active member of St. Gabriel’s Church and an avid Cubs and Badger fan.

Lefty preceded her in death on August 3, 2017. She leaves behind to treasure her memories: children Brad (Jeanette), Dirk (Janet), Brian, Gerri (Bruce Strnad), and Jennifer (Jeffrey Nack); 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother Duane Noehl, her sisters, Delores Noehl and Betty Doubek, a daughter-in-law Kathy (Brian); and great-grandson Xavier (Alexander and Angela).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be a wake scripture at 7:30 PM.
