Obituary for Phyllis M. Tomhave Phyllis M. Tomhave, 97, of Cheyenne, passed away May 7th at Davis Hospice Center. She was born on December 12, 1920 in Duluth, Minnesota. Upon graduation from Teachers College, she taught in a grades K-8 rural school in Sandstone, Minnesota where she met her husband.

Prior to moving to Cheyenne over 30 years ago, she resided in Minnesota, Colorado Springs, CO, and Sheridan. Phyllis will be remembered for being an avid bridge player, golfer, crafter, and gardener. She liked playing Bingo, Yahtzee, and other board games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was very knowledgeable about birds and flowers and she could have won the jack pot on Jeopardy. Phyllis, a loving and devoted mother, is survived by five children, Pamela (Don) Hogarth, Nancy (Walter) Smith, Diana (Gary) Sherman, Paula (Mark) Finlayson, and Gregory Tomhave. She was adored by her 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Gerhard “Gary” Tomhave; parents, Frank and Elva Buresh and four siblings, Elva, Winifred, John, and Lorraine and infant grandchildren, David and Amy. Life Commemoration services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 16th at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
