Homer lived in Virginia for a short time during his childhood, and swimming in a whirlpool in the Shenandoah River was one of his favorite memories.

He was a member of the “700 Club,” and won roping competitions, including two horse trailers as prizes. He worked as a Warehouse Manager, a Wrangler on a dude ranch, hauled hay on the Baca Grande Ranch, bucked potatoes, and drove trucks. Homer also was a respected 4H leader in the Horse Division, and loved to be outside working, fishing, hunting, riding, roping, and spending time with his loved ones eating and laughing as old Westerns played in the background.
