Ralph Landon Howdershelt October 05, 1936 – December 14, 2018 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Ralph Landon Howdershelt, age 82 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on December 14, 2018 at Country Club Rehabilitation Campus at Newton Falls of natural causes. He was born on Oct. 5, 1936 in Rowlesburg, WV the son of the late Van S. Howdershelt and Ada Claris (Funk) Howdershelt.

He received his formal education at Rowlesburg High School in WV in 1955. Ralph continued going to school and received his Bachelors Degree in Education. He has lived in Newton Falls since 1978, formerly of Lordstown.

Ralph worked as a parts assembler at General Motors Lordstown for over 30 years retiring in 1999 and is a member of the UAW Local #1714. Ralph’s true passion was gardening and also enjoyed action movies and billiards. Ralph cared for an eight acre garden (Paris Gardens) of daylilies and hostas in his spare time.

Ralph was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and generosity by all who knew him. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters: Elizabeth Howdershelt, Alice Zirkle, Flora May Cox, Merril Nestor, and 5 brothers: Franklin, Ernest, Charles, Evert, and Howard Howdershelt. He is survived by: 2 sisters: Mildred J. Myers of Coulter, PA, Beatrice M. Howdershelt of Kingswood, WV, many nieces & nephews, and a special friend: Brandon Robinson of North Royalton, OH.

Per Ralph’s wishes, Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 1:00PM. The family has requested that all donations please go to the: American Daylily Society c/o Kathleen Schloeder for the General Fund 2501 St. John’s Place Alexandria, VA 22311 in memory of Ralph L. Howdershelt.
