Randall (Randy) Lee Wells, died in Lawrenceville, GA on December 4th, 2018 at the age of 61. Randy is survived by his wife, Linda Estes Wells, of Snellville, GA; brother in law, Andrew D. Estes of Huntsville, AL; mother, Florence M Wells, sister, Debbie Phillips (Paul) of Marietta, GA; nieces, Samantha Johnson (Bobby) of Marietta, GA, Jamie Phillips of Carmel, IN, Leanne Mitchell (Gray) of Atlanta, GA, Robyn Finley of Signal Mtn. , TN.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Louis J. Wells, Jr., his sister, Susan Finley; and his mother in law, Louise M. Estes. Randy was born on March 13th, in Orange County, CA to Louis J. Wells, Jr. and Florence M Wells. Randy’s family moved from Anaheim, CA to Independence, MO, and then to Atlanta, GA in 1970 where he resided for most of his remaining life.
Randy attended Henderson High School in Chamblee, GA where he excelled in wrestling as a state champion. Randy was always active in sports throughout his young adult life; football, baseball, dirt bike racing, motorcycles and downhill skiing in CO. Randy was a Boy Scout and completed Eagle Scout.
Randy’s career started with AT&T, Scientific Atlanta, T-One and several cable and electrical companies, before he became self-employed at home repair, prior to retiring. Randy was very creative and excelled at his hobbies; stained glass artwork, cooking and helping his mother in law, Louise, with her gardening. Randy had several rescue dogs throughout his life and he loved each one of them very much.
Randy met his wife, of 19 years, Linda Estes Wells, in Atlanta, GA. Randy and Linda met July 11th, on a blind date and were married the following year on August 28th. Randy was devoted to Linda and his mother in law, Louise M. Estes, and of course his loving mother, Florence (Flo) Wells.
Linda and Randy shared a love for NASCAR racing, was an avid GA football fan and loved spending time with their family and friends. Randy had many friends and “buddy’s” throughout his life, of which he stayed in touch, and many whom he relied on for support during his later years. Ken Walls remained his closest childhood friend.
Randy’s family is very grateful for all the support from his friends during the past year. Randy will be missed most for his sense of humor, unfiltered opinions and adventurous spirit. A gathering of friends and family for a celebration of life will be held at the Local No.
