OBITUARY Randall Ross Taylor May 10, 1957 – April 19, 2018 Randy Taylor, 60, passed away from a rapid, relentless, and cruelly random bout of pancreatic cancer on April 19, 2018. Randy was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a friend, teammate, colleague, and mentor.

He was also the guy who could effortlessly talk to the random stranger at any gathering, game, or bar and leave an immediate, lasting, positive impression. As one of his many friends mentioned upon his passing, “He had it all: looks, smarts, and a winning personality”. A lifelong resident of Seattle, Randy went to Lake City Elementary, Jane Addams Jr. High, and graduated from Nathan Hale in 1975.

He is widely known for his athletic prowess, and went to Everett CC and Eastern Washington University on track scholarships. He ran, played basketball, golfed, hiked, and was an accomplished softball player and kept playing until a month before his illness. He worked at a number of jobs including Washington State Ferries, shoe salesman, and sporting goods representative.

It was his job as a gypsy moth trapper that led to his career with the Washington State Department of Agriculture as a Managing Entomologist. Randy found happiness in sports, work, and all aspects of life, but it was his family that brought him the purest joy. His wife Kris, his children Lindsey and Drew, and his grandchildren Carmen and Leo had the best husband, father, and grandfather anyone could ask for.

If you asked Randy, however, he would say that he had the best wife, children, and grandchildren anyone could ask for. Preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Daisy Taylor, Randy is survived by wife Kris, daughter Lindsey Dustin (Jansen) and grandchildren Carmen and Leo, son Drew (Catherine), brother Bill (Linda), brother Larry (Karen), and nieces and nephews Mallory, Whitney, Brian, and Kevin. He also leaves behind his beloved pets Hoover and Honey.

The family wishes to thank the staff on the third floor at Providence St. Peters Hospital in Olympia for their loving care of Randy during his stay. Donations may be made in Randy’s name to Old Dog Haven (olddoghaven.org) or the Providence St. Peters Hospital Foundation, (washington. providence.org).
