OBITUARY Raymond J. Boudreaux February 10, 1941 – September 7, 2018 Play Tribute Movie RYNELLA – A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Raymond James Boudreaux will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at St. Marcellus Catholic Church. Fr. James Nguyen will be the celebrant.
Concelebrants for the Mass will be Fr. Gene Tremie, Fr. Richard Fabre and Fr.
Nathan Comeaux. Readers for the mass are Angela Boudreaux and Jay Boudreaux. Gift bearers are his granddaughters, Michele and Chantelle Derouen.
Mr. Boudreaux will be laid to rest following the mass at St. Marcellus Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Holy Rosary being led by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Visiting hours will resume Wednesday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
Raymond was born February 10, 1941 on Peebles Plantation to the late Mitchel Boudreaux and the late Elia Moore Boudreaux, and passed away peacefully Friday, September 7 surrounded by his loving family. He was 77. Raymond worked with International Salt/AKZO Nobel for 37 years and with Cajun Sugar for 6 years until his retirement in 2003.
He has always been a hard worker and a man of many skills and talents. In his earlier years, he was very active in baseball and softball at Rynella Park. He also coordinated the church softball tournaments.
He was also a skilled carpenter and craftsman and gave of his time to his church and to families in need. Raymond was a longtime parishioner of St. Marcellus Catholic Church where he was a Lector for 40 years, member of the choir, a Trustee and headed the Maintenance and Finance Committees. He was also a founding Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 7050 and 4th Degree Knights, Past Grand Knight, Financial Secretary for 40 years, District Deputy and the Area E Coordinator.
Some of his other pastimes include gardening, fishing and raising cattle. He leaves behind a legacy of love and a strong faith that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rest well Shug.
Until we meet again. Survivors include his wife and best friend of 55 years, Barbara Mire Boudreaux; his three children, Raymond J. “Jay” Boudreaux, Jr. and wife Maria, Sheila B. Derouen and companion Randy Boudreaux, and Angela Boudreaux; five grandchildren, Jarrod Derouen and wife Brittany, Michele Derouen, Chantelle Derouen, Ethan Boudreaux and Avery Boudreaux; great grandchildren, Jardin Brooks, Jaxon Derouen and a soon to be great granddaughter in December; his brothers and sisters, Ronald Boudreaux and wife Fran of Hot Springs, AR, Roland Boudreaux and wife Faye, Mary Lee LeBlanc and husband Philip, Kenneth Boudreaux and wife Annabelle, Phylis Hulin and husband Harold all of New Iberia, and Peggy Taylor and husband Dan of Chattanooga TN; and his sister-in-law, Becky Boudreaux of New Iberia. Serving as pallbearers are Ethan and Avery Boudreaux and Jarrod Derouen (his grandsons), Heath and Dusty Hulin and Randy Boudreaux.
Honorary pallbearers are Roland, Kenneth and Ronald Boudraux (his brothers), Philip LeBlanc and Harold Hulin (his brothers-in-law). The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Lafayette General Medical Center 5th floor and ICU for the care and compassion shown to Raymond. We are eternally grateful.
