Raymond’s Obituary Raymond James, age 91, of North Platte, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. Raymond was born April 24, 1928, in Kansas where he grew up. He later moved to North Platte and went to work as a butcher at Sixth Street Grocers then Armour Meat Packing for over eight years.

Raymond later worked as a mechanic for Frank’s Farm and Equipment, which was eventually bought out by K & L Equipment, then for Crawford Electric. On September 10, 1951, Raymond married Mary Mora in Lexington. The couple lived in North Platte where they were members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

When he was younger, Raymond’s mom taught him to sew and tat then he picked up sewing again in his later years. He also liked to fish and tinker with things. Raymond was a hard worker and good husband, father and grandfather.

He leaves behind his wife, Mary, of North Platte; children, Larry (Avril) James, Randall (Kimberly) James and Shirley Mora James, all of Lincoln, LeRoy (Jody) James, of Spokane, Washington, and LaVerne (Bonnie) James and Raymond D. (LaDonna) James, of North Platte; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and other family. Raymond was preceded in death by two sisters; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Cremation was chosen.

Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2019, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Father Josh Brown officiating. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or prior to the service. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
