Raymond J. Nydes of Lower Burrell passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the age of 80. Born in New Kensington, Pa. to John H. Nydes of New Kensington and Marie A. Slovick of New Kensington, he was a 1955 graduate of Ken-Hi High School.

Ray lived in the New Kensington and Lower Burrell areas all his life. He was a very accomplished handy man and electrician. He had worked for Star Market and Loblaw’s grocery store chains, Air Products, Dale’s Service/Pittsburgh International Teleport.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Elena J. Nydes; son John R. Nydes of Lower Burrell; son Alan D. Nydes of Harrisburg, Pa. ; daughter-in-law Robin K. Nydes of Chapin, SC; daughter-in-law Rebecca L. Nydes of Harrisburg, Pa. ; grandchildren Benjamin J. Nydes of Kannapolis, NC; Lindsey E. Nydes of Chapin, SC; Colton N. Nydes of Harrisburg, Pa.

and Savonah U. Nydes of Harrisburg, Pa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, tinkering around in his man shed and watching the Steelers and vintage westerns on television. He also enjoyed teaching hunter safety courses to young/new hunters for 16 years (1984 – 2000) at Logan’s Ferry Sportsman’s Club in Plum Borough.
