Raymond “Ray”‘s Obituary Raymond “Ray” Theodore Swanson, 86, of Bear Lake, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at home with his family by his side. He was born October 24, 1932, in Bear Lake, the son of Adolph and Clara (Snyder) Swanson. Ray was a Veteran of the United States Army.

Following his service to his country, he worked for Frankfort Manufacturing Company before founding Swanson’s Juice Mill, a company he operated with his wife, Dorothy, for over 20 years. Ray was a hard worker and an honest businessman who cultivated long-lasting relationships with customers all over Northern Michigan. In his spare time, Ray cherished time spent with his family.

On April 25, 1959, Ray married Dorothy Milan who survives him. He is also survived by: his sons, Cletus Swanson, Allan (Colleen) Swanson, Gregory (Michelle) Swanson, and Dana (Stephanie) Swanson; nine grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; his siblings, Thomas (Patricia) Swanson, Floyd Swanson, Nora (George) Hunt, and Joyce (Bub) Thompson; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ray was preceded in death by: his parents; and his siblings, Ernie Swanson, Edwin Alfred, Marie Konicki, and Naoma Zaleski.

Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 26, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Onekama, with Father Ruben Munoz celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at the church. The Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, is in charge of arrangements.
