OBITUARY Redmond P. Harkins October 6, 1930 – September 10, 2018 Redmond P. Harkins, 87, of the Village of Lakewood passed away September 10, 2018. He was born October 6, 1930 in Crystal Lake to Joseph and Margaret (Lyons) Harkins. Redmond went to school at St. Thomas the Apostle, Campion Boarding School in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, and then attended St. Ambrose in Iowa before he joined the United States Air Force.

During his time in the Air Force he served as a fighter pilot. Redmond met his future wife, Elizabeth E. Herzog, in New Jersey and were married in 1957. Together they raised four children.

Redmond was a member of the Chicago Board of Trade, which was a great passion for him. He was also a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his children, Patrick (Helen) Harkins, Kathleen (Sam) Hanna, Redmond P. (Alison) Harkins, and Elizabeth (Brian) Smith; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Cara, Lexi, Kelley, and Anna.

There will be a visitation from 4 to 7pm on Friday, September 14 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave. , Crystal Lake. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30pm on Saturday, September 15 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave.
