Reginald Daniel Payette, 85, of Waterford, VT, formally of Concord passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Reg was born on February 6, 1934, in Peacham, VT, son to William A. and Ella P. (Rock) Payette. He was raised in East Burke.

He spent 3 years in the Army serving in Korea. Reg moved to Concord, VT after the death of his wife, Arlene (Hagen) Payette, in 1970. Later he met Harriett Sheehan and she has been his loving companion for over 48 years.

Reg worked for Fairbanks Scales as a waste water plant manager for 33 years until his retirement in 1992. He had recently moved to Waterford to stay with his daughter. A wheeler and dealer, Reg was a very smart entrepreneur.

He loved fishing, hunting, bowling, horseshoes, cribbage, 4-wheeling, and all sports. Reg liked to win. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR.

He was a member of the Lyndonville VFW, St. Johnsbury American Legion, Moose Club, and Elks. He is an avid supporter and member of NRA. In the past, Reg worked part-time logging with horses.

Survivors include his companion: Harriett Sheehan of Concord, VT; daughter: Regina Payette and his angel, Linda Holley; three sisters: Catherine “Cappy” Mitchell and husband, David, of Lyndonville, June Mitchell and husband, Leslie, also of Lyndonville, and Donna Dubray and husband, Pete, of St. Johnsbury; and a sister-in-law: Alona Payette of St. Johnsbury. He was predeceased by his wife: Arlene Payette; a son: Reginald Payette, Jr.; brothers: Albert, William “Bud”, and Dennis; and a sister: Agnes. A funeral service officiated by Dot Robinson will take place Friday, May 10, 2019 at 1:00PM at Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury, VT.

Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Woodmont Cemetery in East Burke. Friends may call on the family Thursday, May 9, 2019, 6-8PM at Sayles Funeral Home. There will be a potluck reception following the burial at his old homestead at 334 Sawmill Road in Concord, VT.
