OBITUARY Remus Price Ashcraft July 5, 1935 – September 29, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Remus Price Ashcraft, age 83, of Tuscaloosa, Ala. , passed away September 29, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. The Celebration of Life service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Heritage Chapel with Chris Ashcraft officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Price Ashcraft and Amory Ashcraft; sisters, Martha Frances Hannon and Clara Marie Proffitt; and brothers, William Davis Ashcraft, Lindsey Eugene Ashcraft and Charles Amory Ashcraft. Survivors include his wife, Sara Wright Ashcraft of Ala.

; daughter, Gena Ashcraft Frith (Chuck) of Ala. ; sons, James Amory Ashcraft (Denise) of Ala. and Terry Price Ashcraft of Fla.

; Loudeen Crocker of Ala. , Margie Ferrell of Ala. and Betty Fay Smith of Miss.

; grandchildren, Chad Frith (Ashley), Hunter Frith (Hailey), Ashlynn Frith (Matt Ford), Amy Lockhart (Chris), Chris Ashcraft (Lisa), Jessica Ashcraft, Adam Ashcraft (Sarah) and Brooklynn Ashcraft Sievering (Zack); and eight great-grandchildren. For 83 years, Remus Ashcraft greeted everyone with a ready smile and a handshake. If there was a Hillcrest High School ballgame anywhere in the state of Alabama, you could find Remus there, usually on the field with his camera.

He loved to capture moments and memories, and shared them with friends and strangers alike. Known to his family as “Granddaddy” Remus was the 8th of 9 children. Being from such a large family, he learned at a young age what was important-faith, family and friends.

He kept these priorities throughout his life and taught his children and grandchildren to do the same. Although he will be greatly missed, his spirit carries on. Honorary pallbearers are current and retired BF Goodrich employees, Hamrick Highland employees, Heritage Nursing Home employees and Renae Rushing (the nurse who made dreams come true.
