Rena (Theriault) McCarty was born in Taunton, MA on August 10, 1946. Throughout her life, her vibrant personality and contagious sense of humor led Rena to be appreciated as the ‘sunshine in the room. ’ She attended the Immaculate Conception Elementary School, Taunton High School and Bristol Plymouth School of Nursing.

Rena was a respected and cherished nurse at Paul A Dever State School, Morton Hospital, Hearthstone Alzheimers Care. In her later years, Nurse Rena’s humor and skills were well appreciated in her dear friend Dr. Vasantha Reddy’s office. Rena leaves 4 adult children, Mark McCarty, Pascoag, RI, Paul McCarty (Lamduan Yenprakhon) Buriram, Thailand, Dr. Erin McCarty (Bill Brown) Lakeville, MA, Kyla Valcovic (John) Taunton, MA.

Rena was a loving Meme to 5 precious grandchildren, Lily, Jack, Rosie, Hunter and Tallulah. She leaves 5 siblings, Mary Sullivan (NM), Gail Marsden (Taunton), Rose Tomase (Raynham) and Louis Theriault (VT); David and Margaret predeceased her. Rena also leaves her once upon a time husband and forever friend Andy Durity.

Rena’s strength, joy, laughter and compassion will be with us always. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass for Mrs. McCarty on Saturday, February, 9, 2019, at 10am, in Saint Ann Church, 660 North Main Street, Raynham. Burial will be private at the request of the family.
