Obituary for Rene Laplante LAPLANTE, Rene “Sam” (85) died peacefully on September 21, 2018. Survived by his wife Marlene, sons Paul (Kim) and Michael (Missy), grandchildren Logan, Garrett and Kendall, sister Diane Justice (James). He was a good conversationalist and his quirky sense of humor will be missed.

Born in Fall Rivers MA, November 15, 1932, Sam served in the Air Force then moved to St. Petersburg in 1956 and married Marlene Fusia in 1961. He earned a Master’s in teaching at USF and subsequently taught mainly, at Pinellas Technical Education Center. For many years, he was an active member at St. Therese Byzantine Catholic Church.

A burial service will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery at 2pm November 15th. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to St. Therese Byzantine Catholic Church, St. Petersburg. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Rene Laplante please visit our Sympathy Store.
