Obituary for Rev. Edward J. Flewelling Reverend Edward J. Flewelling Was born September 4, 1925 in Southampton, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of the late Harvey and Margaret (MacDonald) Flewelling. Ed went home to be with his Lord on Monday, December 17, 2018 and was greeted in heaven by his loving wife, Harriett May (Cornish) Flewelling and his beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Anne Holpp and brother, Lloyd Flewelling.

He is survived by his children: sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Melanie Flewelling of Tennessee; with their children: Heather (Wade) Peaslee, Amy Flewelling, Kayla Kennison and Kyle (Leslie) Kennison; Jerry and Iva Flewelling of Horseheads; with their son Tyler Flewelling; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Lee Ware of Louisiana; with their children: Judi Holpp, Jessica Holpp and John Holpp; Norma “Joy” and John Richards of Florida; with their children: David (Sharalee) Richards, Bill Richards and Steve Richards; along with 15 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; sister: Donna (John) Fenton of Ohio; daughter-in-love Linda Rubin of Horseheads. Ed served in the Canadian Army from August 1944 till May of 1946. Graduated from Zion Bible Institute.

He along with Harriett were missionaries to Tanzania, Africa for 3 and a half years. He then pastored a church in Big Flats, NY upon their return. They then became members at the Pentecostal Tabernacle (Elmira Christian Center) where he was an associate Pastor.

He also played the accordion in the church orchestra, baptized many members, nursing home ministry, bus ministry, senior saints, adult Sunday school classes, was a board member and strong supporter of Elmira Christian Academy. Ed was a wonderful loving and kind father and grandfather, sweet and kind to everyone, gentle and tender, always giving glory to God for his faithfulness and goodness. Every Fruit of the Spirit poured out of this faithful servant of God.

Ed also retired from the Bendix Corp where he was a dedicated inspector for 34 years. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service celebrating Ed’s life at the Elmira Christian Center, 235 E. Miller Street, Elmira, NY on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Matthew Bedzyk will officiate.

Ed will be laid to rest with his beloved Harriett in Forest Lawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Thank You: Ed’s family wishes to express their gratitude and love to the Chemung County Nursing Facility staff especially the 5th and 6th floors for the outstanding care and compassion given to their father.
