Rev. Noble V. Hunt, 94, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at his home in Nampa, Idaho. Daddy was born at home to Minnie Alice (Hipple) and Howard Hunt on Feb.
10, 1924 in Dodge City, KS. He gave his heart to Jesus at the age of 10 and served Him until his passing at 94. He attended school until sixth grade in Dodge City and then his family moved to Suavie Island, OR where he resided until finishing high school, graduating in 1942.
He then attended Oregon State College, but joined the Navy knowing he would soon be drafted. The Navy sent him to Boulder, CO, where he graduated from University Colorado – Boulder, with a degree in Science and Mechanical Engineering. After graduation he was sent to Notre Dame for officers training.
During his time in Boulder, he had met and fallen in love with Wanda Carlton (whose father was the pastor of the Nazarene church he attended) and after being commissioned as an officer in the Navy on Nov. 2, they were married on Nov. 5, 1945.
The next day they traveled by train to Boston, MA, where he attended Harvard to learn to be a dispersing officer for the Navy. After he was discharged from the Navy when the war ended, he and Wanda moved to Portland, where he worked for Hyster Corp. until God called him to preach in 1947.
They then moved to Kansas City, MO, where he attended Nazarene seminary for one year, during which time he contracted asthma and had to move from that climate. He took his first pastorate in 1948 in Alliance, NB with a 17-day old son, Noble Steven. From there he pastored in states from Kansas to Idaho and during those years their home was blessed with four more children: Marsha Lynn, Robin Ruth, Alica Marie and Laurel Anne.
He finally retired from pastoral ministry in 1996. Through his care and preaching in the churches he pastored, he saw many come to know Christ and follow Him. He was a man of integrity and faithfulness and was committed to following wherever God lead him.
His family have always been the recipients of his love and faithful prayers for them. He longed in the last days of his life to go to Heaven to see Jesus and his wife. He has passed the torch to those who are left behind, and we plan to see him again in Heaven.
He is survived by five children: son Steven Hunt (Jackie) of Nampa, daughter Marsha Carpenter (Bill) of Nampa, daughter Robin Zink of Nampa, daughter Lica Wright (Gerald) of Lake Jackson, TX and daughter Laurel True (Ted) of Nampa, 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Bertha Mae Hunt, Portland, OR, one brother-in-law Bob Gouker, Council Bluffs, IA, one half sister-in-law, Esther Marsh(Earl) Delta, CO, one half brother-in-law David Stockamp, Dixon, MO and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Wanda; mother, Alice Hunt, father Howard Hunt, brother Ronald Hunt, half-sister Violet Hunt, two sisters-in-law Rita Gouker(Bob), and Reva Berg, and one half sister-in-law JoAnn Stockamp(David) and one grandson Byron Hunt.
